Understanding the Creation, Appreciating the Creator
By Tammy Hotsenpiller
God took nothing and made it into everything, simply by the power of His Word. As mentioned earlier, the Greek word translated “miracle” is dunamis, which is the root word for our English word dynamite—which means “power.” It was the power of God’s Word, of God’s Voice, that spoke all things into being. It was the “and God said…” that caused everything that was not to become everything that was.
God created the world by the power of His Word—and that was the first miracle.
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. And God saw the light,
that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day.
So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
Making everything from nothing is a miracle. Creating mankind, male and female, was a miracle. Breathing life from the very mouth of God into creation, was truly a miracle. But isn’t that just like God—breathing life into our dead circumstances, breathing creativity and passion into His children’s destiny?
Each morning, we wake up with the expectation of a new day, with hope and passion to do more and to be more—a gift from God.
I want you to see that the first miracle God performed, was you. He performed this miracle, so we could have fellowship with Him. The Scripture says, “So God created man in His own image; in the image of God, He created him; male and female He created them” (Gen. 1:27).
He created him, and He created them—male and female. Why? So we, being in His image, could be creative. Did you ever stop to think that the very act of reproduction is an act of creativity?
“Be fruitful and multiply.” Those were God’s words to Adam and Eve. Why? Because He was teaching them their role in creating something new. God gives us all the ingredients we need to create, ourselves. Now all we need is the faith and belief to see God move on our behalf. What has God birthed in you to create, design, or invent…to develop or research?
How can you help humanity with your knowledge and ability?
How Might God Be Speaking to You to Fulfill the Dreams He’s Placed Inside of You?
God loves to talk with his children. For Moses, it began with a burning bush, and then continued throughout his lifetime with many other encounters. But one very specific experience was when Moses was on Mount Sinai receiving the Ten Commandments of God, (for the second time, I might add). The first time did not go so well for him. But here he was again, having an encounter with God.
The Bible tells us that he received personal instructions from God on how His children should operate and function in life. It was a divine download from God to Moses for humanity. They were the instructions on how to live an obedient and healthy life. The tablets were to be the very law of God.
I love the way the Word of God lays out this intimate conversation. The Bible tells us that Moses did not eat or drink for forty days, while he received the instructions from the Lord. The fact that he received this revelation while on a fast, cannot be incidental. His food was the very Presence of God. Nothing else could satisfy his longing. If you have ever encountered the Power of His Presence, then you know first-hand—that all earthly things fade away.
After that, he made his way down the mountain, to give the law to the Children of Israel. The Bible tells us that Moses did not know that his face was glowing with the Presence of God. The people saw it, and were immediately afraid. There was something very powerful about the Presence of God flowing from the countenance of Moses.
In the Book of Acts, we read the account of Stephen, as he is being stoned to death for his faith. He, too, had an encounter with God where his face shone like that of an angel: And all who sat in the council, looking steadfastly at him, saw his face as the face of an angel.
Being in the Presence of God is life changing. The more time you spend with Him, the more you will radiate for His glory.
Whether you are fasting for twenty-one days or forty days—this is a divine encounter with God. People will begin to see the presence of God on you.
