Great translation and very understandable

Keeps to the traditional KJV with more updated language for better understanding in my view. I can read and better understand the meaning than with KJV. I love this Bible and wish the indexed versions were in stock!

Comparable to NKJV

It is different from the NKJV too, however. James 4:5 is a good example. NKJV interprets πνευμα to mean Spirit (Holy Spirit), and MEV interprets it as spirit (human spirit that everyone has). MacArthur interprets that verse the way the MEV has it, despite the NASB95 interpreting it as NKJV does. That can have drastic differences in the way you interpret the text. Speaking as a Greek II student currently, every Bible purchased needs to have proper exegesis done, and there is no such thing as a literal translation. In English, word order matters, but in Greek is does not.

Aside from that one example, the thinline is a nice size to carry for street preaching or to a coffee shop. It has red letters for Christ, handy cross references that are actually decent in quality and quantity, and it capitalizes the pronouns referring to the Triune God (which is big for me). Good Bible.

MEV

I have been a kjv reader since birth. I still love my kjv. But now I have an alternate choice I didn't have before. I'm really enjoying reading the Bible in modern English. I hope the mev continues in print for a long time to come.

The cover is nice, looks like leather and feels like leather. Very flexible with solid binding. I hope the next printing makes the print size a point bigger. The study references are helpful and insightful.

Faithful translation, easy to read

Overall, I enjoy the Modern English Version translation and am using it in our church services at Merciful Savior Lutheran Church in Rogers, Ark. I have found the translation from Greek and Hebrew to be accurate and the English readable and easy to understand. My only disappointment has been a question or two sent to the translation team that have gone unanswered. Pastor Randy Moll

Great translation

I wish I could get in real leather with heavier, better paper. Love the double column format with reference in the middle.
