The Shifting Tides of Israeli Politics
Apart from the Old Testament prophecies paving the way for Jesus Christ, there have been more than just a few prophecies misunderstood or ignored by the majority of the Christian community. The mystery of the red heifer, in particular, is an essential component of End Times, but not much attention has been brought to it…until now.
In an exclusive interview with Charisma Media, Byron Stinson gave an update on the red heifer ceremony, recounting how he had the “privilege of bringing five red heifers from Texas to Jerusalem in hopes that the prophetic ceremony would soon take place, in preparation for the ushering in of the Third Temple.” With the recent political shift in Israel, the Rabbis have received political support to start preparation for the ceremony.
In Mondo Gonzales’s book, The Mystery of the Red Heifer, he explains how this favorable political shift was set up during the current administration: “The second and biggest challenge since the 1967 takeover of eastern Jerusalem and the Temple Mount has been the political situation.
Only seven days after the Six-Day War ended, Moshe Dayan gave religious control back to the Waqf. Since the establishment of the modern State of Israel, the largest political parties have been relatively irreligious and socialistic. Many religious groups have tried to change the status quo for the Temple Mount, and Israel’s government has been their main impediment. From a practical and political standpoint, this made good sense. The majority of Israel’s politicians are secular or simply culturally Jewish and do not feel the same level of religious commitment or the need to see a temple rebuilt, deciding that upsetting the status quo would not be worth the likely conflict. As a result, they have instead sought to reduce tensions with Muslims over Temple Mount claims, a position that has helped Israel maintain relative peace and harmony through the decades.
This attitude changed dramatically beginning in about 2010 and up to the current political environment and party makeup. The Israeli Knesset (parliament) is made up of 120 seats. Israel’s multiparty system differs greatly from the American system. In the Israeli system, the majority (sixty-one seats) makes the decision in selecting the prime minister. However, no single party has ever won more than fifty-six seats. Instead, different parties must unite and form a coalition in order to secure the sixty-one seats required to appoint a prime minister from one of the coalition groups.
In the past, religious groups were always in the minority and often ignored because the secular parties had enough seats in their coalition to make up the majority. Netanyahu has been the longest-serving prime minister in Israeli history. He served one term from 1996 to 1999 by creating a coalition with centrist and religious parties. His second term (2009–2013) consisted of a mixed group of secular and religious groups. His third term (2013–2015) was also a mixed group. Netanyahu’s fourth term (2015–2020) was again a mixed group of secularists and religious.
Netanyahu’s government dissolved, and from May 2020 to June 2021, he shared a government with Benny Gantz, a secular centrist. This was followed by the more centrist and secular Naftali-Lapid government from June 2021 to November 2022. The numerous elections in these years brought significant turmoil and frustration for the average Israeli voter. In November 2022, Netanyahu once again formed a government, but this time he was only able to do so by joining mostly religious parties. In December 2022, the officially formed government became recognized as the most religious government in the history of modern Israeli politics.
This new government brings significant changes to the political landscape of Israel. Netanyahu now leads a group of sixty-eight majority seats, which means the only way he was able to regain power in the first place was to cater to many of the demands of these religious parties. For the first time in the history of Israel, the religious and orthodox parties hold the greatest governmental influence over the Temple Mount, settlements, relations with the Palestinians—and most specifically, the idea of building a third temple.”
