Was There a Link Between the October 7th Attack and the Red Heifer Ceremony?
Without a doubt, the rebuilding of the Third Temple is a major—if not, the most significant—event catalyzing End Times. Rabbis and Biblical scholars alike have always been keenly aware of this truth; however, there is another organization whose eyes were watching out for its fulfillment too: Hamas. So, why would a terrorist organization from a neighboring nation be so concerned about the arrival of five red cows?
From the very mouth of a Hamas spokesperson, the entrance of these five red cows into Israel was a clear “act of aggression.” Since the red cows are tied to an ancient prophecy, Hamas believed that Israel was threatening “to end Arab control of the Temple Mount, where the Al-Aqsa Mosque is located.” Thus, these harmless cows became one of the major justifications for the October 7th attack.
In Mondo Gonzales’s book, The Mystery of the Red Heifer, he expounds upon the connection between the five red heifers and the October 7th attack: “In the midst of the excitement over the red heifers, something tragic and completely unexpected happened that threw a wrench in the planning of the ceremony. That tragedy occurred on October 7, 2023, the single deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust. On that day, at least 6,000 Hamas operatives and Palestinian civilians coordinated an invasion from the Gaza Strip into the Gaza Envelope of southern Israel on the Jewish religious holiday of Simchat Torah. They launched at least 4,300 rockets, flew in on powered paragliders, and broke through the border wall, attacking military bases and massacring civilians in twenty-one communities. They murdered more than 1,200 men, women, and children, many of whom were kidnapped, tortured, and raped. About 250 Israeli civilians and soldiers were taken as hostages to the Gaza Strip, including about 30 children.
Israel immediately declared war on Hamas and has been waging war ever since to the time of this writing. No doubt this event will go down in history as adjusting the governmental focus of the Israeli Knesset. In the months leading up to the attack, there had been riots and disunity throughout the land of Israel. This all changed on October 7. After this massacre, the Israeli people realized their lives would forever be threatened by Hamas and Hezbollah unless they completely eradicated these terrorist organizations.
The Israeli operations began in the Gaza Strip in the fall of 2023, and initially, Boneh Israel’s plans to move forward with gaining the permits necessary to perform the red heifer ceremony on the Mount of Olives in the spring of 2024 were not affected. However, this all changed in January of 2024 when Hamas made a public statement blaming their October 7 murder spree on Israel’s bringing the five red cows to Israel, claiming by doing so they had threatened the Al-Aqsa Mosque. The following is a quote from Hamas military spokesman Abu Obeida:
We look back 100 days to remember the educated, the complicit, and the incapacitated among the world powers governed by the law of the jungle, reminding them of aggression that reached its peak against our path (Al-Quds) and Al-Aqsa, with the start of its actual temporal and spatial division, and the “bringing of red cows” as an application of a detestable religious myth designed for aggression against the feelings of an entire nation in the heart of its Arab identity, and the path of its prophet (the Night Journey) and Ascension to heaven.
As world leaders and journalists responded to Hamas’ claims, many began to echo these words in an effort to shift the blame for the October 7 attack back on Israel. Jordanian reporter Osama Ali wrote:
The implications of these developments extend beyond religious beliefs, delving into the political realm. The Israeli government, despite its professed secular stance, has exhibited a noteworthy eagerness to facilitate the entry and utilization of these red heifers, marking an extraordinary departure from standard procedures. This commitment, evident in both right-wing and left-wing governments, underscores the influence of religious considerations on state policies.”
